You don’t need to be her.

I know when you see her, a part of you aches.

She seems to have exactly what you want.

All figured out – right there in the palm of her hand.

But the truth is, the world doesn’t need another her. 

It needs an original you.

So, how do you put your insecurities to bed for good?

1. Find one thing you like about yourself physically. I know it’s going to sound crazy, but when I can’t find anything redeeming about my body, I brush my teeth in my underwear. Yep, flaws and all right there looking back at me. After a few nights, you will start to love that body you see and appreciate the room it made for love.

2. Do the one thing you do really well even more than usual. Maybe it’s words of grace. Maybe it’s making things. Maybe it’s the way you can make anyone belly laugh. Many of us hoard our gifts when we get discouraged, but an amazing thing happens when we use our defeated spirit to drive us forward. We see what we have, not what we’re missing.

3. Cheer other women on. Give a random compliment. Ask them for tips or recommendations. Or simply just smile when they have given you no reason to do so. This ensures our energy is used for goodness rather than groaning. And it offers a way to connect with rather than criticize another woman. We all can learn. We all can choose growth.

So, let these words remind you:

You don’t need to act like her.
You don’t need to dress like her.
You don’t need to speak like her.
You don’t need to think like her.

Because the world already has a her.

And comparison can become compassion.

When we can finally see ourselves with grace and gratitude for what we have endured.

And marvel at the strength and wisdom only we could ever possess.
